Configuring a FedEx Shipping Method
There are two different parts to this tutorial: creating a real-time rate calculating shipping method for FedEx, and creating a manually-set flat rate shipping method for FedEx.
Configuring Real-time Shipping Method (UPS Calculates Rates in Real-time)
1. Login to the Administration Dashboard.
2. Go to Administration → Shipping & Taxes → Shipping methods.
3. Click the Add Shipping Method button (looks like a plus sign) near the top right of the screen.
4. Enter the name of this shipping method.
5. Enter the applicable Delivery Time and Weight Limit range.
6. Select Real-time in the Rate calculation field. Then select FedEx as the Carrier and FedEx Ground for the Shipping Service.
7. Leave User Groups selected as "All" unless you only want the shipping method to be available for specific user groups. Customer: a user that has previously purchased from you. Registered User: a user that has registered on Everest Automotive Market. Guest: a non-registered user that has not previously purchased from you.
8. Click the Create button to save the new shipping method.
9. Click on the Configure tab.
10. Fill your FedEx credentials in the Authentication Key, Authentication Password, Username, and Password fields along with the other options. Then click Save.
11. Do not worry about the "Shipping Charges" tab unless you want to charge an additional fee on top of what FedEx calculates for you.
12. Next, test your shipping method. Open the General tab and enter a weight value into the Weight (lbs) input field and click on the Calculate Shipping Cost button next to the Shipping service field to make a test calculation of shipping charges. You should see calculated rates or any error returned by FedEx. If an error occurs, you will need to address this error and retest before enabling the shipping method.
13. (Optional): After successful testing of the calculation of the real-time rate with the shipping carrier, open the Shipping Charges tab. Here you can define any additional fees that you wish to be added to the calculated real-time shipping rates from the shipping carrier. (you could use this for adding a handling fee for example).
14. Click the Save button to save any changes.
Configuring a Flat Rate FedEx Shipping Method
1. Login to the Administration Dashboard.
2. Go to Administration → Shipping & Taxes → Shipping methods.
3. Click the Add Shipping Method button (looks like a plus sign) near the top right of the screen.
4. Enter the name of the shipping method.
5. Enter the applicable Delivery Time and Weight Limit range.
6. Select Manual in the Rate calculation field. Then select the shipping method name in the Shipping service field.
7. Leave User Groups selected as "All" unless you only want the shipping method to be available for specific user groups. Customer: a user that has previously purchased from you. Registered User: a user that has registered on Everest Automotive Market. Guest: a non-registered user that has not previously purchased from you.
8. Click the Create button to save the new shipping method.
9. Click on the Shipping Time and Rates tab.
10. Click the USA+ rate area and fill in the Rate Value for your shipping method.
11. Click the Save button to save any changes.
